FIPS 140-2 are Security Requirements for Cryptographic Modules set forth by the U.S. government computer security standards; they are used to accredit cryptographic modules
FIPS 140-2 4 Levels of Security
- Level 1 provides the lowest level of security
- Level 2 improves upon the physical security mechanisms of a Security Level 1 cryptographic module
- Level 3 prevent the intruder from gaining access to CSPs held within the cryptographic module
- Level 4 the highest level of security
Note: KN8 supports FIPS 140-2 Level 1.
