Subject :
Adding Custom RS232(ASCII) command

Description :
How do I add custom RS232 (ASCII) commands?

Solution :
In the attached clip we demonstrate adding a custom RS232 device using an advanced feature drop down menu to configure multiple in, multiple out devices like Matrix switches.
.
For custom RS232 devices, it is necessary to manually create a command.

For example the ATEN 4 port video switch VS0401, command for port switch to port 1 is sw i01. Don’t forget to add \r (Carriage Return) and \n (Line Feed) at the end of each command as shown in the clip. Please note “Port 6” is the designed port for live tests of the GUI.

If there is a Matrix Switch added to the VK2100, you may adapt an easy method for configuration by placing “*” [an asterisk] in the command name and adding a [ ] to define a variable for later configuration.

In the clip, 1 to 16 can be selected for input, and 1 to 20 can be selected for output. So all you need to change is the input and output ports without having to rewrite the entire command – this is very useful in advanced applications.
