The term Java Network Launching Protocol (JNLP) is used interchangeably with the term “Java Web Start" to describe a framework developed by Oracle that allows users to start application software for the Java Platform directly from the Internet using a web browser. 

The JAVA version installed on Linux usually is OpenJDK, it is not developed by Oracle. 

Please install Oracle JAVA to launch Java Web Start applications.
