Yes. UH7230 backwards compatible with original Thunderbolt peripherals and vice versa through extra Thunderbolt 3 legacy adapter. But a Thunderbolt device connected to a UH7230 will perform at its original speed.

If you have a mix of generations on a Thunderbolt 3 daisy chain, make sure that the Thunderbolt devices sit after the Thunderbolt 3 devices on the chain. Otherwise those Thunderbolt 3 devices will operate at Thunderbolt speeds.
